Contributory Social Security Scheme
About Contributory Social Security Scheme
The “Contributory Social Security Scheme (CSSS)” of the Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir, gives marginal workers social security on a shared-contribution basis. It runs for either 5 years or 10 years. Contributions go into a bank account opened in the beneficiary’s name, which stays pledged to the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) while the scheme lasts. At the end, the beneficiary may take out the full amount or put it into a pension scheme, and is also insured during the scheme. Applications are made to the relevant District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO). The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir funds the scheme 100%, and only its permanent residents can apply.
