How to Apply

Offline Application

Applicants can apply for Compensation for Loss of Life and Property Caused by Wild Animals in and around Forest Areas: Assistance in case of Death/Injury/Disability due to Wild Animal Attack through the offline application process outlined below.

📋

Application Process

Where a wild animal causes a death, serious injury or disability, the victim or dependent is given 30% of the total compensation due as an advance. This is released once the incident is confirmed by the village head of the affected area, a sitting public representative and the local forest guard, and is paid within 48 hours at most (public holidays not counted) of the loss of life or property being reported.
The balance is paid when the final investigation report arrives. To receive payment, the Aadhar card, mobile number and bank account details of the victim or dependent must be provided.
In cases of death, serious injury or disability from a wild animal, a certificate from a state government doctor must be lodged with the office of the relevant Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) or Deputy Director. On the strength of the final investigation report prepared by the relevant Assistant Conservator of Forests or Wildlife Warden, the DFO/Deputy Director is fully empowered to sanction or release the ex-gratia, and also sends the complete case details to the Chief Wildlife Warden.
The final investigation report has to be filed within 15 days of the incident. A certificate about the dependents of the deceased is obtained from the Revenue Department before the final ex-gratia payment. Should the final report fail to confirm that a wild animal caused the death, serious injury or disability, the advance paid to the victim or dependent is recovered as revenue. Note: Anyone can report human-wildlife incidents or wildlife in populated areas anywhere in the state on the Forest Department's toll-free number, 1800-890-9715.

Ensure all required documents are ready before starting the application process.
