CM’s Lairik Heiminnashi Programme (CMLH): Pre-Matric Remedial Coaching
About CM’s Lairik Heiminnashi Programme (CMLH): Pre-Matric Remedial Coaching
Through the “CM’s Lairik Heiminnashi Programme (CMLH): Pre-Matric Remedial Coaching”, the Government of Manipur offers handholding in the form of remedial coaching to minority, OBC, and SC students of the State of Manipur who attend government academic institutions or institutions receiving government grant-in-aid. Eligible students in Standards 8 to 10 under the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) get remedial coaching in English, Mathematics, and Science at no cost. Depending on the logistics and manpower available for running classes, Government-run schools, recognised private schools, or reputed registered Private Coaching Centres are empanelled as Coaching Centres (CC).
Selection of Students:
- An ‘economic ranking’ merit list is drawn up in ascending order of family income. If two applicants have equal family income, the one from the larger family ranks higher; if family size is also equal, the older student ranks higher.
- A second merit list is drawn up in ascending order of the marks the student obtained
- in the final academic assessment of the previous class, giving the ‘academic ranking’. Where two students have equal marks, the older one ranks higher.
- The final rank is the sum of the academic rank and the economic rank, and beneficiaries are selected on this basis.
- If final ranks tie, the student with the better academic rank gets preference.
- Selection of students for coaching is the responsibility of the Nodal Department, or on its behalf the Directorate concerned or the IA, as the Government may specify.
- A minimum of 30% (or more, if the Government so decides) of the available seats may be kept exclusively for girl students.
- The same scoring/ranking method is applied among girl students to fill the 30% seats reserved for them. Girls who miss out after the 30% reserved seats are filled are considered for the remaining 70% open seats using the same scoring system.
