Biponi Scheme
About Biponi Scheme
Launched by the Government of Assam, the Biponi scheme sets out to help small businesses, farmers and artisans in the state grow. It seeks to build a more efficient and competitive market ecosystem in Assam while offering a range of benefits and support for their businesses. Through the scheme, the government funds the development of market infrastructure such as godowns, storage facilities and market yards to ease the marketing of agricultural and non-agricultural produce. Small traders and artisans also receive training and support to sharpen their marketing skills, financial management and product quality. The Biponi scheme further builds market linkages connecting small traders, farmers and artisans with market channels like organised retailers, exporters and food processing units, and it extends credit facilities and other help to small traders and artisans to meet working capital needs and grow their businesses. Its main focus is on small traders, farmers and artisans in rural and semi-urban Assam, offering them benefits and support that boost their businesses and create income and employment opportunities in the state.
