Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme
About Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme
Introduced by the Government of Punjab in 2011, the Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme seeks to improve the state’s gender ratio. It is an important step against female foeticide and in favour of the schooling and well-being of girls. By releasing financial help to eligible families at several stages, it eases the cost of a girl child’s birth and upbringing. Girls born in Punjab on or after 1 January 2011 can benefit, provided the family’s annual income is below ₹30,000. So far, more than 26,000 beneficiaries have been covered under the Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme.
