Award of Opportunity Cost to Parents of Scheduled Caste Girl Students
About Award of Opportunity Cost to Parents of Scheduled Caste Girl Students
Run by the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department, Government of Puducherry, the “Award of Opportunity Cost to Parents of Scheduled Caste Girl Students” compensates Scheduled Caste families who choose to keep their daughters in school instead of relying on the earnings those girls might otherwise bring home through menial labour. > Objective:
The scheme sets out to end child labour among Scheduled Caste girls and to motivate Scheduled Caste parents to enrol their daughters in educational institutions, paying them an opportunity cost that offsets the household income they give up.
