Assistance Scheme for Handicraft Artisans
About Assistance Scheme for Handicraft Artisans
The Government of Kerala launched the “Assistance Scheme for Handicraft Artisans (ASHA)” to give handicraft-sector artisans grant-based financial help for starting handicraft enterprises. It is a one-time, back-end support to eligible artisans of the state, intended to replace the earlier scheme and bring handicraft artisans under one umbrella scheme for grants towards setting up enterprises. Under this scheme, an artisan means a person recognised as one by the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Govt. of India or by SURABHI, KSBC, KADCO, HDCK, KELPALM, who has taken concrete steps to establish an enterprise in the handicrafts sector. > Objectives:
- Offering wide-ranging help to handicraft artisans in establishing handicraft-based micro-enterprises
- Extending one-time support (grant) to eligible artisans of the State as back-end assistance.
