Amended Technology Upgradation Fund
About Amended Technology Upgradation Fund
The Ministry of Textiles set up the Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (ATUFS) to drive investment, employment, productivity, quality, and import/export substitution in the textile sector, while indirectly boosting investment in textile machinery manufacturing too. It works as a credit-linked capital investment subsidy scheme for textile manufacturing, aligned with the Government of India’s Make in India and Zero Defect Zero Effect initiatives.
Objectives
- Drive exports and job creation — especially for women — by supporting the garment and apparel industry and growing India’s share of global exports.
- Promote technical textiles for both exports and employment.
- Encourage upgrading existing looms to better technology to raise quality and productivity.
- Push for better quality in processing, reducing the garment sector’s need to import fabric.
