About Agro Tourism Villa Scheme
Forming part of the Chief Minister’s Elevate Program under the Tourism Department of the Government of Meghalaya, the Agro Tourism Villa Scheme sets out to employ, engage and empower Meghalaya’s young people. It does this by encouraging entrepreneurship and making credit easier to obtain, with several banks brought on board as financial partners. With demand growing and a push towards high-value tourism, the state government is putting money into luxury tourist facilities and infrastructure. Even so, accommodation needs further upgrading so that it matches what high-value visitors expect while safeguarding the state’s heritage.
