Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni
About Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni
Introduced in August 2024 by the Higher Education Department, Government of Assam, “Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni” offers financial grants as admission incentives to ten lakh girl students so that they continue studying at the Higher Secondary, Graduation and Post-Graduation levels, and is seen as an important step towards ending child marriage and the harmful practices linked to it. Every month, Class 11-12 students receive ₹1,000, graduation students ₹1,250 and post-graduation students ₹2,500, for not more than ten months per year, while institutional monitoring ensures that beneficiaries attend regularly and remain disciplined. Applicants must be unmarried girl students domiciled in Assam who are enrolled in government and venture educational institutions (private institutions are excluded), and existing beneficiaries must have had 75% attendance in the previous year. The Higher Education Department, Government of Assam runs the scheme through a portal-based system: applications are taken offline at the respective educational institutions and then verified online through the institutional portals.
