Meghalaya Adventure Tourism Scheme
About Meghalaya Adventure Tourism Scheme
Implemented by the Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, as part of the Chief Minister’s CM-ELEVATE Program, the Meghalaya Adventure Tourism Scheme, seeks to make Meghalaya a top eco-adventure destination. It draws on the state’s distinctive natural landscapes to encourage sustainable tourism and create livelihoods for local people. Hurdles like costly equipment, scarce credit and safety gaps are tackled through 75% capital subsidies, credit linkage with partner banks, standardised training, support for eco-infrastructure and help with marketing. Strict environmental safeguards and global safety standards must be followed. Individual entrepreneurs, registered operators and community-based groups engaged in caving, rafting, paragliding and similar activities can benefit, which in turn boosts jobs, community involvement and growth of the sector.
