Goa State Employment Subsidy Scheme for the Industries, 2008
About Goa State Employment Subsidy Scheme for the Industries, 2008
The Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce, Government of Goa, introduced the “Goa State Employment Subsidy Scheme for the Industries, 2008” in 2008 with several goals in mind: boosting industrial growth, building a favourable climate for new industrial units, reviving sick units, giving jobs to local youths and developing a workforce matched to what industry needs. On top of its core subsidy, the scheme carried extra advantages, among them a 5% higher local employment subsidy, preference in capital contribution and raised limits on interest subsidy. Only manufacturing units qualified, covering both new and existing micro, small, medium and large enterprises, with emphasis on units whose workforce was 80% local. Implementation rested with the Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce, while a Task Force Committee examined claims and recommended benefits. The scheme stayed operational until 31st March 2011.
