About Goa State Cultural Award
Created by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, the “Goa State Cultural Award” honours distinguished figures in Art and culture. It recognises outstanding Goan artists for their lifetime achievements and their exceptional contribution to Goa’s Art and culture.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for Goa State Cultural Award, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

An exceptional contribution to art & culture in general, and to the applicant's own art form in particular, is required.
Of the applicant's whole career as a practising…
Of the applicant's whole career as a practising artist, at least 10 years must have been spent contributing to that art form in Goa.
Awards are not given posthumously
Awards are not given posthumously. If, however, an artist dies during selection after being recommended, the Task Force Committee may still consider the name, and the award will then be given posthumously.
Benefits Provided
Goa State Cultural Award provides the following benefits to eligible applicants:
Each awardee is presented with a shawl, a sriphal, a certificate of appreciation and a purse of up to ₹ 1,00,000/- per individual, along with monthly financial help under the Kala Samman scheme. Number of Awards Up to 12 (twelve) people are honoured annually across these fields -

Exclusions / Who Is Not Eligible
1. No assistance shall be paid to the dependent after the death of the artist.
1. If the awardee is availing pension under any State Government or Central Government scheme, then, the awardee shall not be eligible for financial assistance under the Kala Samman Scheme.
1. No person shall be eligible for a second time to avail of the benefit.
1. No award will be presented posthumously under this scheme.
