Gharelu Hinsa Ki Pidita Ke Liye Sahayta Yojana
About Gharelu Hinsa Ki Pidita Ke Liye Sahayta Yojana
The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act of 2005 is a major law that shields women from the many kinds of abuse that can take place inside the home. It gives women experiencing domestic violence a right to protection and help, covering physical and sexual violence as well as verbal, emotional and economic coercion. By taking such a broad view, the law recognises that domestic abuse takes many shapes and that victims may be harmed in ways that go beyond physical injury. Importantly, the Act provides for compensation to help women and girls who suffer physical injuries because of domestic violence. This reflects the state’s resolve not just to stop further harm but also to support and give redress to those who have lived through abuse in their relationships or homes. Meeting survivors’ wider needs, including money for physical injuries, the Act takes an active stance against domestic violence, stressing both the empowerment of victims and the accountability of abusers.
