Gatidhara Scheme
About Gatidhara Scheme
In August 2014, the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal launched the “Gatidhara Scheme” to create jobs in the transport sector for the state’s registered unemployed youth. The Finance Minister had announced the scheme in the February budget. Financial support is available to families earning ₹25000/- or less a month. Applicants are interviewed by the transport department, which then prepares a list of eligible candidates. Funds come from the labor department, while the transport department carries out the scheme. Its goal is to promote transport services as a source of self-employment in both Urban and Rural areas of the state.
