About DEVELOPMENT OF HANDICRAFTS
The Government of Puducherry is working to bring back disappearing crafts and restore the importance of traditional craftsmanship. Objective: (i) To encourage and grow Handicrafts in the Union Territory of Puducherry. (ii) To bring back disappearing crafts and restore traditional Handicrafts /trades in the Viswakarma category. (iii) To build skills that open up better jobs and strengthen the livelihoods of the rural poor, who account for a large part of the U.T. of Puducherry’s exports.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for DEVELOPMENT OF HANDICRAFTS, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
Residence - The applicant must be a native…
Residence - The applicant must be a native of Puducherry Union Territory (or) must have lived there continuously for the last three years.

Benefits Provided
DEVELOPMENT OF HANDICRAFTS provides the following benefits to eligible applicants:
Disappearing crafts are revived and traditional Handicrafts are restored.
Financial Assistance:
For the trainee –
Stipend
Stipend: Rs. 1,500 /- a month for each trainee.
For the trainer –
Honorarium of Rs
Honorarium of Rs. 300/- a month for each trainee (up to Rs.3, 000/- a month).
Compensation for wasted raw materials of Rs.150 /-…
Compensation for wasted raw materials of Rs.150 /- a month for each trainee (up to Rs.1,500/- a month). Note:- Training lasts 6 months
