About Cycle Distribution Scheme
The Tribal Affairs Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, runs the “Cycle Distribution Scheme” to help village girls keep studying by giving them cycles. Scheduled Tribe girls in Class 11th who travel more than 2 km to school and were not given a bicycle in Class 9th receive cash equal to the price of a bicycle. Objective: The scheme aims to cut dropout rates and keep Scheduled Tribe girls in higher secondary school. It wants every Scheduled Tribe girl in the state to continue studying after class 10, even where this means joining a higher secondary school in another village.
