How to Apply

Applicants can apply for Compensation for Loss of Life and Property Caused by Wild Animals in and around Forest Areas: Assistance for Loss of Cattle Due to Wild Animal Attacks through the offline application process outlined below.

📋

Application Process

When cattle or other domestic animals are killed, the carcass may be moved from the site only after the village head or a sitting public representative has confirmed the kill. No ex-gratia will be paid if the carcass has been poisoned, treated with pesticide or interfered with in any way. The owner must give a written report of the kill to the relevant range office within two days.
Once the kill has been confirmed, first by the village head or a public representative currently in charge, together with the local forest guard, the owner is paid 20% of the total amount due in advance from available funds. The balance is released after the final investigation report is received.
The relevant Range Officer issues the certificate confirming that the cattle were killed by wild animals. After that, the Divisional Forest Officer/Deputy Director has full power to sanction and pay the ex-gratia on the basis of the final investigation report from the Assistant Conservator of Forests/Wildlife Warden, and must ensure that all relevant details are sent to the Chief Wildlife Warden. The final investigation report is prepared within one month of the incident. If it does not confirm a wild animal kill, the advance already paid to the owner is recovered as revenue. Note: A toll-free line (1800-890-9715) has been launched by the Forest Department for reporting human-wildlife accidents, or wildlife seen in populated areas, anywhere in the state.

Ensure all required documents are ready before starting the application process.
