Chief Ministers Green Taxi Scheme
About Chief Ministers Green Taxi Scheme
Forming part of the CM-ELEVATE Program of the Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development Department, Government of Meghalaya, the Chief Minister’s Green Taxi Scheme encourages clean transport and green business in the Greater Shillong Planning Area (GSPA). It aims to cut pollution, speed up the switch to electric vehicles and back individuals, SHGs and cooperatives. Entrepreneurs can get up to 50% of a vehicle’s on-road price covered, with 5% paid by the entrepreneur and 45% by the Government, along with EMI subsidy, branding help and scrappage incentives. The Urban Affairs Department runs the scheme, partner banks arrange the loans, and selected Tata EV models are covered subject to a subsidy ceiling of ₹5 lakh. The scheme seeks cleaner air, greener transport and a contribution to Meghalaya’s goal of a $16 billion economy by 2032.
