About Bal Sakha Yojana
1. Bal Sakha Yojana is a community-driven programme that supports children who need care and protection. The Department of Women and Child Development runs it jointly with the NHM and the State Child Protection Society. 1. Trained volunteers known as “Bal Sakhis” are placed in villages and urban areas to spot and report child abuse, neglect and exploitation. 1. Bal Sakhis also help families that need assistance so that their children remain safe and well. In addition, the scheme gives financial help to children who need care and protection. 1. It focuses on vulnerable children aged 0-18 years, particularly those from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and seeks to secure their all-round development and well-being through support and protection.
