Gujarat
Quick Summary: Started in 2011-12, Gujarat's AGR-50 scheme helps farmers buy empanelled tractor models by covering 25% of the cost, capped at ₹45,000 for tractors up to 40 PTO HP and ₹60,000 for 40-60 PTO HP models.

About AGR-50 Scheme-Assistance To Purchase Tractors

The Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare & Co-operation, Government of Gujarat, began the “AGR-50 Scheme-Assistance to Purchase Tractors” in 2011-12 to support farmers across the state in acquiring tractors. Recognising how important tractors are, the state launched it to expand farm mechanization and to respond to the demand raised by the farming community. Tractor prices used to vary from place to place within the state, so small farmers without bargaining power often ended up paying more. To make tractors available to every farmer at uniform and competitive prices, tractor companies’ models have been empanelled since 2014-15. Tractors are a key machine for spreading mechanization and raising the farm power available; farmers need one to operate power-driven tools/implements, which is why assistance is offered for buying a tractor. The scheme is fully (100%) sponsored by the state.
