The “Outstanding Entrepreneur” award, run by Puducherry’s Industries and Commerce Department under the “Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Industries – State Awards to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises” framework, traces back to the New Industrial Policy 2016 notified on 4th October 2016. These ‘State Award’ schemes recognise the best-performing entrepreneurs and enterprises operating in line with that policy, and the award applies across the whole Union Territory.
