Sukhatme National Award in Statistics
About Sukhatme National Award in Statistics
The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation runs the Sukhatme National Award in Statistics to recognize outstanding individual contributions to high-quality research that strengthens official statistics, and to reward innovative approaches to challenges in sample surveys, data management systems, and data integration. The award gives eligible Indian statisticians national recognition — a citation, shawl, and memento — for either a lifetime of contribution or excellence as a young achiever. > Ceremony Details:
- The award is presented every year on Statistics Day, 29th June, with the two categories honoured in alternate years.
- At the ceremony, a citation describing the awardee’s work is read out.
- The awardee may also be asked to lead a session on the significance of their work.
