About Scheme For Residential Education For Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA): Mode 1 – SHRESHTA Schools (Best CBSE Private Residential Schools)
Running from 2023-24 to 2025-26, the “Scheme For Residential Education For Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA)”, launched by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, gives Scheduled Caste students access to some of the country’s best private residential schools, securing their future prospects and bridging the education gap in areas with a large Scheduled Caste population but few services. Under the “SHRESHTA Schools (Best CBSE Private Residential Schools)” mode, the scheme covers school fees — tuition plus hostel fees including mess charges — and offers bridge courses to help students settle into their new surroundings. To qualify, a student must belong to the Scheduled Caste community, have parental income up to ₹2,50,000/- a year, and clear the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA, conducted by the National Testing Agency.
