About Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan – Internship Program

As part of implementing the Centrally Sponsored “Revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan” (RGSA) scheme for 2022-23 to 2025-26, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) offers short-term internships — up to a maximum of 3 months — to students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate programmes, as well as ‘Young Research Scholars’ pursuing Doctoral (Ph.D.) or post-doctoral degrees in specified academic disciplines at recognised universities/institutions in India or abroad. Selected candidates work as ‘Interns’ across the various Units, Cells and Programmes within MoPR’s different Divisions under the Revamped RGSA scheme, spanning FY 2022-23 to 2025-26. This Internship Program centres specifically on MoPR’s ‘Office set-up’. The full list of research domains/subject areas for which interns are invited is available in ‘Annexure – A‘ of the detailed guidelines. Objectives of the Program

1. To draw on the academic talent, knowledge, skills and techniques of ‘Students’ and ‘Research Scholars’ for mutual benefit, feeding into MoPR’s Policy and Action Research work. 1. ‘Interns’ get hands-on exposure to how Local Self-governments and other government bodies function — their policies, schemes, development initiatives and interventions for rural development — viewed through socioeconomic, cultural and political dimensions. 1. ‘Interns’ are expected to contribute relevant, well-reasoned inputs, suggestions and recommendations via Data Analysis, Situational Analysis, and Empirical/Evidence-Based Research using Quantitative & Qualitative methods, Desk Reviews and Policy Analysis, feeding into Policy Briefs and Working Papers prepared at MoPR’s Office setup.
