Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Millet Based Products

Quick Summary: PLISMBP is a 5-year, ₹800 crore Production Linked Incentive scheme run by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries that rewards manufacturers of packaged, branded millet-based RTC/RTE products (over 15% millet content) for incremental sales growth. Large Entities can earn up to ₹100 crore and MSMEs up to ₹40 crore, provided they sustain a minimum 10% CAGR in sales.

About Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Millet Based Products

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, has introduced the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Millet-Based Products (PLISMBP) to expand the use of millets in food products and encourage their value addition, achieved by rewarding manufacturers of selected millet-based products for sales in both domestic and export markets. The Ministry implements it through a Project Management Agency (PMA), currently IFCI Limited. Spanning 5 years, from FY 2022-23 to FY 2026-27, the scheme carries a total outlay of ₹800 crore, and the incentive earned in one year is paid the following year — the Financial Year 2026-27 incentive, for example, falls due in 2027-28. Incentives track incremental sales against a defined base year and depend on hitting minimum growth rates; eligible products must contain more than 15% millet content and be manufactured in India. Applicants are chosen using evaluation criteria and a ranking system.
