Post-Matric Scholarship for SC students
About Post-Matric Scholarship for SC students
Run under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, this scholarship for SC students works to raise the Gross Enrolment Ratio of Scheduled Caste students in higher education — particularly those from the poorest households — by giving them financial help once they reach the post-matriculation or post-secondary stage, so they can keep studying and finish their education.
- Scope
1. The scholarship applies only to studies pursued within India, and beneficiaries are chosen by whichever State Government or Union Territory the applicant permanently belongs to (that is, the State/UT where they are domiciled, per that State’s domicile rules). 1. It covers both students already receiving the scholarship and those newly admitted.
Courses under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students fall into four groups:
1. Group I: Degree and Post-Graduate courses in Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design, Fashion Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Management, Business Finance/Administration, Computer Science/Applications, and Commercial Pilot Licence courses (including helicopter and multi-engine ratings). 1. Group II: Post-Graduate Diploma courses across Management and medicine-related branches, plus C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A., etc. 1. Group III: Graduate and Post-Graduate courses outside Groups 1 and 2, such as B.A./B.Sc./B.Com and M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. 1. Group IV: Management and Catering, Travel/Tourism/Hospitality Management, Interior Decoration, Nutrition & Dietetics, Commercial Art, and Financial Services (Banking, Insurance, Taxation, etc.).
