About NBCFDC General Loan Scheme

The National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, runs the “General Loan” scheme to fund income-generating activities — agriculture and allied work, small business, artisan and traditional occupations, transport, services, and technical/professional trades or courses — for eligible members of Backward Classes. NBCFDC implements the scheme through its Channel Partners, financing up to 85% of project cost while the Channel Partner and/or beneficiary contribute the remaining 15%. Interest rates vary with the loan amount, and repayment runs in quarterly instalments over a maximum of 8 years, including a 6-month moratorium on principal recovery.
