Mobility Scheme
About Mobility Scheme
The “Mobility Scheme,” launched under the Knowledge Involvement in Research Advancement through Nurturing (KIRAN) Programme by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, tackles the relocation challenges faced by women scientists in regular government positions. It gives women scientists struggling with job continuity due to relocation — marriage, a husband’s transfer, caring for ailing parents, or accompanying children studying elsewhere — a bridging option while they look for career opportunities at their new location. The initiative aims to ease the early phases of a woman scientist’s move, letting her stay active in research alongside other domestic responsibilities, by offering a contractual research award that supports independent research.
