Sub-mission on Breed Development of Livestock and Poultry
About Sub-mission on Breed Development of Livestock and Poultry
Launched in FY 2014-15, the National Livestock Mission by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, works towards generating employment, developing entrepreneurship, and raising per-animal productivity, thereby targeting higher production of meat, goat milk, egg and wool under the umbrella “Development Programme”. Surplus production, once domestic demand is met, is expected to boost export earnings. The NLM concept centres on developing entrepreneurs who can build forward and backward linkages for produce currently in the unorganized sector, connecting it with the organized sector. Key Objectives
1. Generate employment through entrepreneurship development in the small ruminant, poultry, piggery and fodder sectors. 1. Raise per-animal productivity through breed improvement. 1. Increase production of meat, egg, goat milk, wool and fodder. 1. Expand fodder and feed availability to substantially narrow the demand gap, by strengthening the fodder seed supply chain and access to certified fodder seeds. 1. Encourage setting up fodder processing units to reduce the demand-supply gap.
The National Livestock Mission has the following three Sub-Missions:
1. Sub-mission on Breed Development of Livestock and Poultry 1. Sub-mission on Feed and Fodder Development 1. Sub Mission on Innovation and Extension
“Sub-mission on Breed Development of Livestock and Poultry” sharpens focus on entrepreneurship development and breed improvement in poultry, sheep, goat and piggery, by offering incentives to Individuals, FPOs, FCOs, JLGs, SHGs, and Section 8 companies for entrepreneurship development, and to State Governments for breed-improvement infrastructure.

Screening of application by State Implementing Agency (SIA)
The SIA scrutinizes the submitted application and recommends eligible entrepreneurs/entities for balance financing for the project through scheduled banks or financial institutions such as the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
Loan sanction by Lender
Once SIA recommends the project, the bank or financial institution considers it for financing. The lender retrieves the application and documents from the portal, examines the project, completes its internal due-diligence process, and approves the loan; the sanction letter is then uploaded to the portal.
Recommendation from State Level Executive Committee (SLEC)
Once the bank or financial institution sanctions the project, SIA places it before the SLEC, which recommends the application to the Central Government (Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying).
Approval of subsidy by DAHD
DAHD approves the subsidy and records this approval on the portal.
Disbursement and release of subsidy
Once the sanction letter's terms and conditions are met, the lender disburses the loan amount to the beneficiary; the subsidy amount for approved projects is routed through the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to the lending bank or financial institution, which then releases it to beneficiaries. Track Application Status Applicants can check their application status through the "TRACK STATUS" tab in the upper right corner of the portal.
