About Scheme of Grants-in-Aid for supporting professional associations/ organisations of social scientists, companies and trusts duly registered under the Companies Act for their development
Under the Ministry of Education, the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) extends Grants-in-Aid to professional associations and organisations of social scientists, along with companies and trusts registered under the Companies Act, to support their institutional development. Whatever is sanctioned must go strictly toward running costs — electricity, rent, telephone, and similar office expenses — as well as purchasing library books/journals, postage, computers, furniture, and stationery. The ad-hoc grant is ordinarily capped at Rs. 8,00,000 annually, though ICSSR may also fund associations of national importance, or other innovative ideas that benefit the social science community more broadly. As with other ICSSR grants, the closing 10% instalment is paid only after the Audited Statement of Accounts and Utilization Certificate for the full sanctioned amount are submitted.
