To qualify for support under this scheme, a journal must have been in continuous, regular publication for at least three years. The publishing body can be a university, college, research institute, or a professional association registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and both the organisation and the journal may work within a single discipline or across disciplines. Annual funding tops out at Rs. 5,00,000 for a single journal and Rs. 8,00,000 where an organisation runs several journals. If a journal is brought out commercially, assistance is confined to editorial and processing expenses, capped at Rs. 1,00,000 per journal, though extra funding can be considered for special issues or back volumes. As with similar grants, the closing 10% instalment is paid only once the Audited Statement of Accounts and Utilization Certificate are submitted.
