National Scheme of Apprenticeship Training
About National Scheme of Apprenticeship Training
Run by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, and overseen by four Regional Boards of Apprenticeship/Practical Training (BOATs/BOPT) in Mumbai, Kanpur, Chennai, and Kolkata, the “National Scheme of Apprenticeship Training” places graduate engineers, diploma-holding technicians, and 10+2 Vocational pass-outs into practical training at roughly 10,000 industrial establishments. It follows guidelines set by the Central Apprenticeship Council (CAC), a statutory body under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and exists chiefly to close the practical-experience gap for these fresh graduates. Apprentices train for one year, drawing a monthly stipend split equally between the Central Government and the employer.
