Application Process
Students of minority communities in Classes 1 to 10 may register whenever they like on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP 2.0) at
https://scholarships.gov.in
. An Aadhaar number and a mobile number linked to Aadhaar are needed to register.
At registration, the student enters basic details including their own name, the names of their parents and their educational qualifications. A student ID and password are created once registration succeeds.
Online applications for the scholarship are invited by the department through advertisements in newspapers or on the NSP portal, open for a stipulated period.
Students log in with their registered ID and password (or register first if they have not yet done so) and choose their school or institution while applying.
The application requires uploading mandatory documents: educational certificates, Aadhaar card, a bank account linked with Aadhaar, permanent residence certificate, self-declaration certificate of minority community, income certificate, certificate of studying in school and a passport-size photograph. Offline copies of the same documents also have to be handed in at the school or institution for verification.
After submission, the application goes to the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) of the school, who checks the documents and passes it to the State Nodal Officer (SNO). Following a random selection process (2% of applications), the SNO sends the applications on to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
When the documents and eligibility are verified as correct, the scholarship is paid directly into the student's bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
