Meghalaya Cinema Theatre Scheme
About Meghalaya Cinema Theatre Scheme
Part of the CM-ELEVATE Program started by the Planning Department, Government of Meghalaya, the Meghalaya Cinema Theatre Scheme seeks to employ, engage, and empower Meghalaya’s youth by encouraging entrepreneurship and making credit easy to get through tie-ups with several banks. Financial help is given to build new cinema theatres or to upgrade existing ones anywhere in the state. Through film and cinema, the initiative aims to protect and promote Meghalaya’s cultural heritage, with theatres also acting as community centres for artistic expression and entertainment. To keep theatres viable and sustainable over the long run, it also backs add-on facilities such as food courts, gaming zones, childcare services, and retail spaces.
