Maintenance Of Pregnant Desi Indigenous Cows Ration For BPL Families
About Maintenance Of Pregnant Desi Indigenous Cows Ration For BPL Families
The Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Himachal Pradesh, introduced the “Maintenance of Pregnant Desi/Indigenous Cows Ration for BPL families of all Categories of livestock farmers“. BPL families receive a balanced ration of 3 kg per day for at most two cows or buffaloes, for three months in the last trimester of pregnancy. The government and the beneficiary each pay half of the ration cost (50:50), and the feed price is based on approved rates. Around 6.5 Lakh cows and buffaloes become pregnant in the state each year, and the scheme may reach them. It may help BPL families and every category of livestock farmer in the state give pregnant Desi/Indigenous cows a balanced, nourishing diet. Correct feeding during pregnancy is vital for the cow’s health and for the calf’s growth and development, and good nutrition can also lower the chance of health problems during and after pregnancy. Objectives:
1. Raising milk output so that farmers earn more. 1. Shortening the inter-calving period, which in turn means more calves and more milk. 1. Keeping pregnant cows healthy so that they reach their full milk production potential after calving. 1. Making sure calves are born healthy, free of disease and malnutrition, and grow into high-yielding animals. 1. Encouraging farmers to keep Desi/Indigenous cows, since the incentive is offered for these breeds.
