Sarkari Yojana

Khet Talai

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
Rajasthan
Quick Summary: Khet Talai gives Rajasthan farmers a subsidy to build farm ponds that store rainwater for irrigation. SC, ST, small and marginal farmers can get up to ₹1,35,000/- for plastic-lined ponds, and other farmers up to ₹1,20,000/-.

About Khet Talai

Khet Talai Yojana is run by the Agriculture Department of the Rajasthan Government. Irrigation water is the biggest difficulty Rajasthan’s farmers face, and a farm pond offers one answer: it lets a farmer store rainwater and use it to irrigate the crop, though not every farmer is able to build one. The state government therefore subsidises the construction of farm ponds, so that farmers can dig ponds in their own fields, harvest rainwater, and water their land.

Other important points

1. Once an application is made, the Agriculture Department issues administrative approval for building the farm pond. 1. The farmer is informed of this by mobile message or through the agriculture supervisor. 1. The department verifies the site in person both before and after the Khet Talai is built. 1. The grant is credited straight into the farmer’s account.
