Jeevanam Self-Employment Scheme To Dependents Of Crime Victims
About Jeevanam Self-Employment Scheme To Dependents Of Crime Victims
The Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala, introduced the “Jeevanam Self-Employment Scheme to Dependents of Crime Victims” to give financial help both to people who have been victims of crime and to their dependents. It forms part of the State’s effort to strengthen victim support services. Those finding it hard to earn a living, such as dependents of crime victims and people left seriously injured, stand to gain from this assistance. A crime can affect the person targeted and their family in serious and very different ways. Beyond the emotional, psychological and physical toll, there are financial consequences too. When the head of a family is killed or hurt in a crime, the household loses its main breadwinner, and the death or serious injury of the earning member can strip the family of its livelihood.
