Jal Hauj
About Jal Hauj
Through the Jal Hauj scheme, the Agriculture Department of Rajasthan subsidises farmers who build a Jal Hauj (water tank). The idea is simple: the tank is built on a raised portion of the farmer’s field, borewell water is pumped into it during the night, and the stored water is used to irrigate crops the following morning. Once the tank is full, the water can be carried to the crops conveniently through a pipeline. The department extends financial help to farmers for this construction.
Important points
1. Officials of the department will physically inspect the site both before construction begins and after the tank is completed. 1. The subsidy is credited straight into the farmer’s bank account.
