About Intellectual Property Right Scheme Under MSME Innovative Scheme
Under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises’ “MSME Innovative Scheme,” the “Intellectual Property Right Scheme” offers legal and IP-filing support covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs, and geographical indications (GI), among others. It also extends IP advisory, consultation, patentability searches, technology gap analyses, and IP commercialisation help through Intellectual Property Facilitation Centres (IPFCs) set up nationwide. Objective: The scheme seeks to strengthen India’s IP culture through these interventions: • Building MSME awareness of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and encouraging creative intellectual work across the Indian economy; • Taking suitable steps to protect ideas, technological innovation, and knowledge-driven business strategies developed by MSMEs, enabling their commercialization and effective use of IPR tools. Activities: • Setting up Intellectual Property Facilitation Centres (IPFCs). • Reimbursing Patent, Trademark, Geographical Indications (G.I.), and Design registration costs through IPFCs.
