Innovation In Science Pursuit For Inspired Research (INSPIRE) – Faculty Fellowship

Quick Summary: INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship funds 100 Ph.D. holders aged 27-32 each year to spend five years building independent research careers in science, engineering, medicine, agriculture, or veterinary fields. Selected Fellows receive a monthly fellowship plus an annual research grant, run through a three-tier selection process by INSA and DST.

About Innovation In Science Pursuit For Inspired Research (INSPIRE) – Faculty Fellowship

The “INSPIRE FACULTY FELLOWSHIP” component opens doors each year for 100 Ph.D. holders aged 27-32 to spend 5 years researching basic and applied science, including engineering, medicine, agriculture, and veterinary science, with a view to becoming independent researchers. A generous fellowship is granted for this 5-year stretch. The scheme’s goal is to keep young researchers engaged with research in Science & Technology, Medicine, Agriculture, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Sciences. Purpose 1. Give young achievers attractive openings to build independent scientific profiles and set them on course for long-term careers. 2. Strengthen the pool of high-quality scientific manpower at scientific and educational institutions, particularly Central and State universities. 3. While movement up from other INSPIRE components is encouraged, the faculty fellowship also opens a lateral-entry route into the INSPIRE scheme for meritorious candidates. 4. INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship lets post-doctoral fellows pursue independent research, though it does not promise a regular position once the 5 years are up.
