Indira Priyadarshini Award
About Indira Priyadarshini Award
Rajasthan’s Secondary and Elementary Education Department launched the “Indira Priyadarshini Award” in 2019-20 to spur academic excellence among girl students from eight social categories: Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Minority, Disabled, General Category, Special Backward Class, and Below Poverty Line (BPL). Girls who come first in their district in the Class 8th, Class 10th and Class 12th examinations of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (with Arts, Science, & Commerce counted separately) receive a one-time cash reward. In each of these social categories, girls who top the state in the Class 8th, Praveshika and Varishtha Upadhyay examinations of the Sanskrit Education Department are rewarded too. Since the academic year 2021–22, the award also goes to eight Class 10th and eight Class 12th girls who rank first at the state level in the vocational education examination within the specified categories. From that year, state-level toppers in the respective categories from Swami Vivekanand Government Model Schools with a CGPA of 9 or above are eligible as well. Implementation: The Balika Shiksha Foundation, Jaipur runs the scheme. Award Ceremony: Each year, on November 19 — the birth anniversary of Smt. Indira Gandhi — the awards are formally presented at the district headquarters.
