Through its “Incentive for the Simple Marriage” scheme, the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka gives ₹50,000/- to ST residents of Karnataka who marry another ST person on or after 11th August 2015. The scheme seeks to cut wedding costs, stop dowry, and build a more accepting society. The couple’s combined income must be below ₹2,00,000/-.
