Goa
Quick Summary: The Goa Traditional Bakers (Poders) Subsidy Scheme gives traditional Goan bakers a cash subsidy of ₹4, ₹2 or ₹1 per kg on maida used to make Pao, Undho, Poie and Kakon, paid every quarter. It is implemented by GHRSSIDC.

About Goa Traditional Bakers (Poders) Subsidy Scheme

In 2012, the Department of Industries, Government of Goa, introduced the “Goa Traditional Bakers (Poders) Subsidy Scheme” to financially support Goa’s traditional bakers (poders) and help this age-old trade survive and grow. The scheme subsidises the maida (flour) bought by traditional bakers who make staple Goan breads such as “Pao,” “Undho,” “Poie,” and “Kakon.” Implementation is handled by the Goa Handicrafts, Rural & Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd. (GHRSSIDC). Among its aims are holding the price of a 50gm “Pao” at ₹3 for the next 5 years and helping bakers who have been in the trade for at least 20 years.
