About Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu Inter-caste Marriage Assistance Scheme-I
The Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, introduced the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu Inter-caste Marriage Assistance Scheme to wipe out caste and community discrimination. It promotes inter-caste unions by giving money to newly married couples where one partner is from a Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe and the other belongs to a different Community.

To qualify for Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu Inter-caste Marriage Assistance Scheme-I, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
The bride must have cleared the 10th standard…
The bride must have cleared the 10th standard (or the 5th standard if she is from a Scheduled Tribe).
The bride must be older than 18 years…
The bride must be older than 18 years at the time of the wedding.
One partner must be from a Scheduled Caste/Scheduled…
One partner must be from a Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, with the other from a different Community.

A 22-carat gold coin of 1 Sovereign (8gm) for making the Thirumangalyam. Mode of disbursal: ₹15,000 is paid via Electronic Clearing Service, with ₹10,000 given as a National Savings Certificate.
