About Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
Run by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) works towards universal health coverage, giving particular attention to protecting the health of vulnerable families and women. Its main aim is to offer financial protection and better access to healthcare for the people of Odisha, especially economically disadvantaged families. The BSKY has two components to deliver on this:-
1. The State Government pays the entire cost of every health service provided to all patients (regardless of income, status or residence) in all State Government health care facilities, from the Sub center level up to the District Head Quarter and Government Medical College Hospital and Blood Bank level. 1. For more than 96.5 lakh economically vulnerable families in the State, the State Government covers healthcare costs in empaneled private hospitals, providing Annual Health coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per family plus an additional Rs. 5lakh for the family’s women members once the initial limit is used up.
Families holding a BSKY Smart Health Card can get cashless treatment at any empaneled private hospital under BSKY, inside or outside the State. Card holder families can use services like registration, consultation, medical tests, pathologies, treatment, IPD and follow-up consultation under BSKY at any empaneled private hospital, with the State Government meeting the cost up to the annual coverage amount.
