Ashramshalas (Grant in Aid)
About Ashramshalas (Grant in Aid)
The Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat, introduced the “Ashramshalas (Grant in Aid)” scheme to offer all-round educational help to Scheduled Tribe children whose families are too poor to pay for schooling, tackling the problem of children being pushed into traditional trades or other work to support their households instead of going to school. Under it, residential schools with full boarding and lodging give tribal students free education, hostel stay, books, meals and daily necessities, funded through 100% grant-in-aid to Non-Governmental Organizations that run these schools from standards 1st to 12th.
