About Annapurna Scheme: Seed Multiplication Programme

Madhya Pradesh’s Department of Farmers Welfare and Agricultural Development started the “Annapurna Scheme”, and its “Seed Exchange Programme” component is designed to lift the economic condition of small and marginal Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers. It does this by funding their access to improved seeds of high-yielding foodgrain crops, raising productivity and total production. Implementation rests with the Directorate of Agriculture, working through the District Panchayats, the Sub-Directorate of Agriculture and the Senior Agriculture Development Officer. Applications are taken by the Rural Agriculture Extension Officer in line with targets based on the population of target groups and the demand of the district’s.
