About Akanksha Housing Scheme
Launched on 28/02/2014 by the Housing Department, Government of West Bengal, Akanksha Housing Scheme offers homes to State Government employees in service. As a pilot, the current project stands at premises No. 07/300, Block-DB, Action Area-ID at New Town, Kolkata – 700107. It follows a no-profit no-loss model and excludes land cost. Covering 5.0599 acres, the project has 13 towers (7 nos. of G+10 Towers for Elegant, Premium and Classic categories and 6 nos. of Straight 4 towers for Economy and Standard categories), housing 576 flats, 236 covered Car parking spaces and 35 open Car parking spaces (only for Elegant, Premium and Classic categories), along with a Gymnasium, Club-House and Community Hall inside the Complex.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for Akanksha Housing Scheme, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
Any serving State Govt
Any serving State Govt. employee as defined under the West Bengal Service Rules may apply for the New Town Project under `AKANKSHA HOUSING SCHEME’ (AHS). The exception is State Govt. employees covered by a dedicated housing scheme of their own, such as `Pratyasha’ for Policemen or comparable Government of West Bengal housing schemes listed in Memorandum No. FD-647 dated 29th August, 2014 issued by the Finance Department of Govt. of West Bengal.
