About Maharishi Balmiki Chatravriti Yojana
The Department of Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh, runs the “Maharishi Balmiki Chatravriti Yojana”, a scholarship that gives money to girl students from the Balmiki community. Also called Valmiki, the Balmiki community is socially and economically disadvantaged in India. The scheme’s chief goal is to encourage education and empower students from poorer backgrounds. Seeing education as a way of lifting both individuals and communities, it offers financial help to close that gap. For college-level studies and professional courses, each beneficiary receives ₹ 18,000 per annum.
